Day 1:

Depart the U.S. for England.


Day 2:


The Dorchester

Arrive Heathrow Airport, London pick-up your car, drive to the Dorchester for a 2-night stay. With its superb central location opposite Hyde Park, the Dorchester established itself as one of the top hotels in the world shortly after opening in 1931. Spend this afternoon on your own, perhaps doing some shopping or getting acquainted with the geography of the city. In the evening perhaps take in one of London's many world-renowned musicals.

 

 


Day 3:

Today take in London's many sites. Perhaps take a private London City Tour and visit the highlights including, the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London, the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, and the old and faithful Big Ben. Perhaps take a walk along the Thames and take some photos of London Bridge. You may decide to visit the Dome, the largest structure of its kind, built to celebrate the year 2000. Exhibitions will include 14 spectacular state-of-the-art themed zones, examining the choices facing humankind at work, rest and play in the 21st century. Tonight perhaps have dinner in one of London's many fine restaurants.


Day 4:


Amberley Castle

This morning drive southwest to Southampton from where the ill-fated Titanic set sail before her doomed voyage. You can find many memorials to members of her crew all over the city. See the places where King Henry V set sail for Agincourt in 1415 and the Mayflower departed with the Pilgrims bound for America. Continue south perhaps stopping Gosport to see Little Woodham, a re-creation of a 17th century English village, complete with dwellers going about every day 17th century life. Continue to the ferry that takes you to the Isle of Wight, the holiday residence of Queen Victoria. Visit her home Osborne House, which is now open to the public. Later drive to Amberley, near Arundel for a 1-night stay at Amberley Castle. The 900-year-old castle is now a luxurious country house hotel, offering peaceful surroundings on 12 acres of landscaped gardens.


Day 5:


Chewton Glen

Today drive West to the quaint and quiet little town of Christchurch, which has narrow streets dotted with shops and teahouses. Continue along the breath-taking South coast of Dorset to Bournemouth, a top holiday destination with both British and foreign tourists. Drive through Poole, which has the largest natural harbours in Europe. Later drive onward to Corfe Castle on the Isle of Purbeck, although a ruin, it is a mysterious attraction. Continue along the scenic South coast of Dorset arriving at the lovely seaside town of Weymouth. Drive to New Milton, Hampshire for a 1-night stay at Chewton Glen. This superb world-renowned hotel boasts exquisite gardens, as well as a host of facilities, all complimented by the best in service, style and luxury.


Day 6:


Lucknam Park Hotel

See more of the South of England today as you drive North through the beautiful countryside. Continue to the Salisbury Plain to see one of the world's most renowned stone structures, Stonehenge. Begun around 2,800 B.C. and enlarged between 2100 and 1900 B.C. this mystical wonder served several purposes, most importantly as a religious site. Continue to Clerne, Near Bath in Wiltshire for a 1-night stay at Lucknam Park. This listed Palladian mansion dates from 1720 and is set on 500 acres of parkland six miles from Bath. Each room is individually decorated and Lucknam features a superb dining room and a full Leisure Spa and Equestrian Centre.


Day 7:


Charingworth Manor

This morning drive to Oxford home to the world's most prestigious university. In this vibrant learning centre visit The Oxford Story', a ride-thru museum which takes you through the citys 800 year history. Visit the Ashmolean Museum, the UK's oldest museum and art gallery. Continue to the Cotswolds to Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire for a 2-night stay at Charingworth Manor. This beautifully restored, historic manor house is situated in delightful gardens on a private estate in the heart of the Cotswolds and has a variety of facilities, including a leisure spa with pool, sauna and gym.

 


Day 8:

Today perhaps enjoy the Cotswolds or drive to nearby Stratford-upon-Avon, famous for being the stomping grounds of William Shakespeare. See the five houses associated with the treasured writer, including his birthplace and Anne Hathway's Cottage. Later perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the Avon or in some of Stratfords many shops. Later return to Charingworth and enjoy the facilities.


Day 9:


Chester Grosvenor

This morning drive North toward Chester. Famous for it's black-and-white "magpie" buildings and surrounded by Roman walls and fortified city gates. Indeed toward the Eastgate you can see the great ornamental clock, erected to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Lots of small shops by this part of the walls sell old books, antiques and jewelry. Check into The Chester Grosvenor for a 1-night stay. Built in 1865 and located in the heart of historic Chester, adjacent to the Roman Walls this small luxury hotel offers a choice of the finest foods and wines.

 


Day 10:


Mallory Court

Today you may choose to see more of Chester before heading back down South through 'the heart of England'. Here you may stop-off somewhere for a spot of lunch in one of the many small towns along the way. There are also many local river walks along the banks of the rivers on which the towns were built. Continue driving South into Leamington Spa, Warwickshire arriving at the Mallory Court for a 1-night stay. Visit Warwick Castle, this magnificent fortress towers over the banks of the River Avon, on a site first fortified by William the Conqueror in 1068. Warwick Castle is considered the finest medieval castle in England.

 


Day 11:

This morning drive South toward London, arrive at Heathrow, drop-off your car and depart for the U.S.
